By now we all know that though the warning sign of novel coronavirus is similar to that of a normal flu, it can be more severe. Coronavirus infection attacks the lungs and thickens the mucus. It makes really difficult to breathe. The sportsperson, who needs to have trouble free breathing, must be careful for their lungs health. All the sportsmen, including the cricketers, are looking out for the ways to boost their immunity and keep their lungs healthy, to save themselves from the deadly virus. After all, healthy lungs of sportsperson are the defense mechanism of the immune system.

The infection thickens the mucus of the lungs. It acts as resistance machinery to virus or bacteria to prevent them going further into the body.  Later, the mucus is removed by the body in the course of coughing, sneezing, or having a runny nose. This is very normal. But problem arises when mucus around your lungs is thickly built up. Generally, the people with bronchitis, asthma

The problem arises when there is too much mucus built up in the lungs. People with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD), asthma, bronchitis has more mucus in their lungs. In order to keep the lungs healthy to fight the germs and virus, the body must able to break up the rapid growth of mucus.

The mucus deposition makes the body a breeding ground for germs, pathogens, bacteria or virus. Breaking down mucus around the lungs is the key to keep your lungs healthy.

Here is what the people, including the sportsman, can do to keep their lungs healthy.

Fenugreek seeds

Take a tablespoon of methi seeds and boil them in water for 4-5 minutes.  Now strain and drink it warm. You can take 1-2 cups daily. It breaks down mucus, which your body forces out later.

 Deep breathing

In the same way, deep breathing breaks down the mucus and expels it out from the body. The heavier we breathe; the more mucus breaks down.

 Salt water gargle

Boil some water with salt in it. Now allow it cooled down to lukewarm and then gurgle with it. It also helps in breaking down the mucus.

 Steam

You can simply boil water in a big bowl and cover your head with a towel and take steam from that. The hot steam helps to expel the extra mucus and thus keeps your lungs healthy.
